For my cinemagraph I chose a spot that I had always wanted to visit on the way to holly springs. I really has a deep love for nature and the world around us and wanted to reflect that in my cinemagraph. A few problems occurred when creating this though. First I had no tripod to stabilize each shot so it came out very blurry in post. Second my Adobe subscription ran out last month so I could only do the cinemagraph in Imovie making it not a real gif. So this is a basic representation of what I would have like to have done.

The hardest rule to animate for my stop motion was probably solid drawing because I could not come up with any ideas that I could make incorporating 3D aspects into my animation. I have never been the best at drawing 3D which also made this task more difficult. The easiest was definitely pose to pose because all stop motions normally made follow a straight forward and pose to pose. So I really had a hole range of ideas I could do. I really think stop motion is a great creative outlet and a hole new view of the world and everyday objects. Stop motion can defy gravity and the laws of physics and every video will never fail to amuse me. Im really glad we had this unit and hope to do more stop motion in the future.
My character is named Mr. Smiley. Mr Smiley is the former play mate and favorite toy of Coraline who got thrown out before the big move. When Coraline goes into the alternate world a now tattered Mr. Smiley seeks revenge holding a grudge against his once best friend. His patches show the wear and tear he endured over the years from ruff play and the junk yard no wonder he isn't happy with her. I first came up with a scary character for my brain storm that would fit right into the world of Coraline. Next I started to decide how he would fit into the story and the back story i gave him gave me more ideas for the final product. I used many layers while coloring the character after my initial sketch. Then finally added in a background color and shading to give the character a more 3D and realistic feel. I really like the result from the shading and coloring. The coloring outside of the lines and sloppiness really added to the overall feel and creepiness of the piece. One thing is for sure though you don't want Mr. Smiley on your bad side.
